Do you have a deep love of cats and want to help? We have something for everyone!

Be a Petco Volunteer

We are so lucky to be able to showcase our cats at Petco Tyler in the Cumberland Shopping Center on South Broadway! With that privilege, though, comes big responsibility.  Every Day a volunteer, that has previously signed up, must go into the store, let the cats out to play and clean their condos. You will be responsible for scooping litter boxes, refreshing food and water and changing bedding as needed. We encourage anyone to apply that loves playing with cats, doesn't mind cleaning, lives in or around Tyler, Texas and is not able to foster a cat in their home.

    Become a Foster

Unfortunately, Catty Shack does not have a brick and mortar location like most other rescues. We rely solely on the generosity of foster homes to be able to help cats in our community. We love to take cats from local shelters that are in danger of being euthanized, but without a place for them to go, we have to watch helplessly as their lives end. We promise that one of the most rewarding thing you will ever do is become a foster parent for a cat or kitten in need. Over the last 12 years, Catty Shack has helped thousands of cats get into better situations and it is only because of the dedication, kindness and compassion of foster families. Being a foster family is not easy, or for the faint of heart, but we try very hard to minimize the hardship of it. If you love cats, but cannot afford a cat or commit to a cat at this stage in your life, fostering may be for you. We cover vet care, we find sitters when you are out of town or when your fostering time has concluded.  Often times we are able to provide food, litter, toys, beds and other items through generous donations. If you want to help be being a hero that doesn't wear a cape through fostering please apply today!

    Become a Transporter

Every Year Catty Shack volunteers log 25,000+ Miles in an effort to save the cats of East Texas and help end the pet overpopulation. We do this by takes lengthy trips to Canada, transporting cats to a new rescue and new opportunities. We do this by taking cats to and from vet visits. We do this by driving to locations across 13 counties to trap, neuter and return cats in colonies. We do this to also deliver food and supplies to people in need of assistance. That's a lot of travel! If you like to travel, be it long or short trips, we can use your help! Apply to day to help us continue our mission of saving as many cats as we can.

Become an Event Coordinator and Fundraiser

Sometimes our efforts to help cannot include transporting, cleaning or fostering. That doesn't mean we cannot still help the mission! Creativity is always needed to help engage the public about what we do and raise funds to keep doing it. No matter how many volunteers we have, without the funds to pay the bills, nothing is accomplished. Currently we don't have many events or elaborate fundraisers because they're time consuming and our all volunteer staff work full time jobs, have families and little free time. If you have a creative streak and a desire to help us continue our mission, fundraising and event planning to help us, alongside several other cat rescues may be exactly what you need. Please apply today, we need you on our team!

    Become a Trapper

Every Year over a million healthy animals are euthanized in the U.S. To us, that's a million too many. With your help we can end cat overpopulation in East Texas. It has already drastically improved over the last 12 years since Catty Shacks inception, but it's not enough. We need people willing to go out into areas with cat colonies and inventory, trap, spay, neuter, vaccinate and return cats. These are not adoptable cats so their home is outdoors. They serve a purpose and deserve to live without the stress of constant reproduction. The only way we are ever going to make a real difference in East Texas is by growing our TNR program and we are always looking for those devoted individuals to help us do that. Please Apply today to join our amazing team!
